Former World number tennis superstar Venus Williams comes to town to promote the sell of her clothing line at “Love All Tennis” store in Cary. She took a picture with all that received VIP tickets to the event. There was a long line in front of “Love All Tennis” awaiting her arrival on Monday, April 13th. Some of our young tennis players in the area were able to take a picture and get autographs from the tennis star.
She talked about the meaning of her clothing line, Eleven. Ten represents a perfect score. Therefore eleven represents even higher quality. With Eleven she feels you can look and feel your best on the court. She was also asked about juggling her time with design and tennis. She said that you need to understand the role that you play and to balance your time between all of your responsibilities. Venus was interviewed recently by Tennis Now magazine. In her Tennis Now interview she discusses goals for her tennis and for her Eleven clothing line.
In 2011 Venus was diagnosed with Sjogren’s syndrome. This immune system disorder makes you feel fatigued. This can be debilitating for anyone but it can be especially difficult to the career of an athlete. She talked about the disease in a Good Morning America exclusive interview after dropping out of the 2011 U. S. Open.
Venus Williams has made a big impact on and off the court. She was just recognized in an ESPN article as one of the most important sports women in the past 20 years. She has been a key reason why women get equal pay at the grand slams. Venus has already accomplished so much in her young life. She is a 9 time singles grand slam champion, and a successful designer, and a promoter of equal rights. She has accomplished these things and more in spite of challenges along the way. I also saw and took a picture with Venus. It is great to have such an inspirational person visit our community.
